How can I promote awareness?

I am creating a digital visualisation which will be placed on a website, the main interaction for the users will be the parallax scrolling, as they scroll an animated sequence will come together on a screen. I want to create a way of spreading awareness where I can really involve my audiences so they get a clear message. The image to the right is a mock-up i created in Adobe Animate of what the site could look like. I want to convey this information in an appealing manner and also come off as professional as possible.

The topic is based on a serious current world issue, which also links in with climate change. With the aid of this project I feel I can communicate a clear message to my audiences and allow them to become aware to what is due upon us. This will highlight the potentially dangerous future we have ahead of us. In an online news article I read; "On average, sea levels rose by 1.4 mm from 1900 to 2000. The yearly pace had surpassed 3 mm by 2010, and now it's up to 3.4 mm per year." (McLendon, 2018), these shocking statistics are something I want to display to the audiences on my website. I feel this is one of the most effective waus I can spread awareness.

Dhaka

(Hall, 2018) Dhaka is the largest city in Bangladesh, home to over 8.9 million people. The reason why I am looking into Dhaka is because it is a 'sinking city', I want to see what the future holds for its residences . I will use the information I have gathered to enable me to create a realistic prediction of what earth will look like in years to come.  On an online news article I read on a study examining flooding, soil salinity and migration in Bangladesh I read; "According to the study, increased soil salinity from rising seas will push nearly 140,000 coastal residents to migrate to another location within their district, and nearly 60,000 to move alternate districts." (Desk, 2018). This is a summary of their findings, I can see that in years to come the population will have to dramatically decrease to be able to safely accommodate its residences. This quote draws attention to what happens to the residences of Dhaka, it shows us what some of the consequences o...

Open Data

The biggest sources of open data I will be using in my project will come from NASA, Climate Central and the National Environment Research Council, these websites have data that has been tracked for a number of years. This is a reliable source of information that i can input into my project, this will enable me to see what damage the rising sea level has done already and also look into the future and see how the world will look in a number of years time.  On the NASA website they have 5 main headings with open data corresponding to them. This is the data I will be basing my project on, the reasoning behind this is to be able to visualise what is happening to our environment in a way that is easy for people to understand. There is not enough attention around the devastating effects that could happen to us if we don't act soon. The reason why no one is acting upon this is because not enough people know about the problems.  By using real time open data which has been col...
