The data on the rate of the sea level is rising and all of its contributors is available online, to those that want to look, but with complex graphs displayed on a plain interface the information gets disregarded easily. The underlying problem I found is that the information is there, people just aren't looking for it.
The way the information is displayed isn't exactly aesthetically pleasing, which doesn't help. There are videos, images and graphs which are available all over the internet but compared to the amount of writing there is surrounding all of this, i'm not surprised about the lack of awareness. I feel my website will really have a place in society and hopefully be able to enlighten many people about the problems we will be facing in the near future.
There are more videos and GIF's than images on the internet which predict what will happen to earth if we continue living the way we have done for so many years. But which of those sources are actually reliable? The video to the right is from NASA and it is a good example of a visualisation, it explains the links between climate change and the rising sea level and shows what the future could hold. I want to recreate the impact that this video has and due to the use of open data from; Climate Central, NASA and the National Environment Research Council, my project will be a reliable source of information with a realistic visualisation of the past present and future.
